Diva Approved – Part 2

Sometimes you start a sewing project, and once is it gets going more ideas come to you. For my Simplicity tunic I settled on View E and will embellish the collar. This is a Kenneth King technique that you can learn to do on Pattern Review. I first tried this out on this jacket lapel a few years ago – I know – it’s kinda that dreadful art-to-wear look but I wanted to learn the technique.

This time the color palette will still be browns, but with come green and gold:

…can’t decide if I want embellish the cuffs. This embellishment is pretty heavy when it done, and the fabric is a knit – what do you think?

  1. That’s going to be gorgeous, Phyllis! I’d probably limit the embellishment to the neckline where it will be the focal point.

  2. Take the Jackie O (or is it Coco Chanel?) approach, and take off one thing, in this case the cuffs. I think it will be just lovely with the collar only embellishment

  3. Well, just to be contrary, I’d suggest holding open the option of adding just a few beads to the cuff – just a little color or texture to tie the cuffs to the neckline, but much simpler and lighter weight than the neckline embellishment.

The colors are fantastic – and you reminded me of something to add to my NYC shopping list, so thank you! – Karla
