Delayed Gratification February 7, 2008

Finally, after lusting away for years, today I ordered a professional dress form.  I found it on Ebay at Dress Form Mannequin Factory Outlet, and while it’s not a Wolf (which would cost three times as much), the company that makes them gets high ratings for their service and the quality of the form.  It has all the features I wanted: collapsible shoulders, a pinnable surface, a skirt cage and it’s height adjustable.

The company has a detailed size table posted with each form size, and I chose a RTW 10, because that size corresponds most closely with my measurements.  I’ll pad it out for my lower body dimensions, which are closer to a RTW 12.

This company also sells the full body forms with legs that you see on Project Runway, and they have a “Make An Offer” feature in addition to “Buy It Now”.

Now I just need to think of a name for her….

Oh. Ok. So, I am a nut. Because I got goosebumps!!! I was going to buy a nice set of knives with my tax refund, but you are tempting me!! Congrats on your new dressform!! Please let us know if it’s all we’ve dreamed it would be.

Congrats on the dress form. I was able to get a dress form at the annual craft fair that is held in south park here in pittsburgh. It’s a fab event. I usually get a lot of notions and fabric there. It really reasonalbly priced. It is the Salvation Army craft fair.

I love my dress form and nmed her Sally after my mother. She is the one who got me sewing.

I will keep watching and reading your blog.

Cool! I’d love to get one like that someday but meanwhile, I’ll keep using my vintage Acme adjustable form. No name, although it does wear a Fashion Police badge. Perhaps I’ll end up customizing it like narcissaqtpie is at her blog, Sewl Sista #. It is looking kind of beat.

Oh, you lucky dog! I would love to have such a sturdy form. I’ve knocked mine over so often I’m amazed they still have busts!

    Congratulations!
Thank you so much for posting this (both on PR and here). Now all I have to decide on is… Hip or full size?
