I’ll Take One of Each February 11, 2007

Last night I noticed that Style. Com has finally uploaded Isabel Toledo’s much anticipated Fall ’07 RTW collection for Anne Klein, a label that had fallen on hard times, design-wise. This is a good example:

Believe it or not, this pattern is still in Vogue’s catalog. As the Divas have heard me say; this dreary and somber thing could be a Salvation Army uniform. The only missing accessories are the red kettle and the bell. And that’s coming from a woman who contributes to the Salvation Army on a regular basis.
It was not always thus with Anne Klein and since Isabel Toledo is a true Fashion Hero of mine, it’s exciting to see her revive a great name in sportswear. Isabel has always been fashion forward, and to this day I’m kicking myself for not buying her early 90’s Vogue patterns. I was too intimidated to try them, and it seems to me that she was way ahead of most designers of that period.
So – run right over to Style.com and check out the Ann Klein Fall RTW collection, and then go to the Kent State University museum to see a 2000 retrospective of Isabel’s work.

Also – a personal message to Isabel – where did you get those fabulous Ghillies? I gotta admire a designer who wears the same shoes and color palette as her runway models.

Maybe we can look forward to seeing those ghillies in production and in stores soon. After all Anne Klein does have a shoe line!!! They are fab.
Well, I’m not a ghillie perso, sorry. But I love love love the collection!
Phyllis, I was so distracted by the ghillies-love that I couldn’t really pay attention to the collection. I need to go back through the slideshows and really pay attention now!
Coincidentally, I bought the ghillies today! Probably not the exact ones, but similar - called Fluevog Darjeeling.
Loved the collection and I loved the gillies. Good walking shoe.
I’ve been looking for those shoes since I saw them in theAnn Klein fall runway collection. They were also on a model in the Nordstrom Fall catalog. I called Nordstrom and was told that those shoes were just for the show and are not available. She claimed that they weren’t even mass produced. I think it’s unfair not to offer the shoes after they were shown on just about every model in the show.
